My daily routine now consists of…
Wake up and go and make breakfast for the family and spend a nice start to the day then head up to the box room/new office for 8 to start work. We then have a Teams call at 9 with the management team to start the day before getting stuck into cases and trying to move the pipeline forward. My role is currently two-fold – firstly ensuring that cases are progressed as much as possible in the current climate and communication is on point with all parties, and then secondly to work with the team to ensure we are learning and developing our business so when this is over we can bounce back quickly.
Best film/TV programme watched or best book read during lockdown?
I’ve got into Spooks on iPlayer of an evening (late to the party I know!) and podcasts in the background – too many to mention but my go-to three would be Freakonomics, That Peter Crouch Podcast and The Commando Mindset.
Have you contacted people you have not spoken to for a long time?
Yes – both work and personally. I am speaking to brokers and lenders I haven’t spoken for a while given the more hands-on period we are in. I have also reached out to more friends where contact may have slowed due to life getting in the way. Like everyone else, Zoom, Houseparty and Facetime are invaluable at this time.
What do you miss the most?
Football. Playing it and watching it. I’ll never again moan about a Burnley v Norwich Super Sunday!
What top lockdown tip can you share with others?
Stay positive and make the best of it. It’s easy to look at the negatives and see nothing but problems, however look for the benefits. For example, I now get lunch with my wife and daughter every day, get to eat good home cooked meals every night and find time to fit in a daily exercise session.
