My daily routine now consists of…
It feels like an endless stream of conference and video calls! I can’t believe how tiring working flat out from home can be. However, there are real upsides, my Strava stats have never looked better and not being away in the week and having dinner every night with the family is wonderful.
Best film/TV programme watched or best book read during lockdown?
I have just finished I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. A recommendation from Stephen Smith and OMG, it was brilliant – one of the best books I have read. Without knowing much about the plot, it was pretty spooky that a key theme was the potential for a global pandemic (apologies if this is a bit of a plot spoiler)!
Have you contacted people you have not spoken to for a long time?
Yes, definitely. It has been great to catch up with both some old friends for virtual beers but also find ways of giving something back. My 12-year-old son’s football team have set themselves a challenge to run 300 miles in 30 days between them and raise £1000 for our local Hospice. The Dads have also been challenged although we are lagging behind the lads on distance, at least we have smashed the fundraising target within 10 days.
What do you miss the most?
As I write this I should have been landing in Menorca for a Cricket Tour with my village team. Gutted not to be there. I am however trying to be positive and take advantage of the situation we are in; getting more exercise, spending more quality time with family and clearing my DIY and gardening to do lists.
What top lockdown tip can you share with others?
I am forever using the excuse ‘I don’t have the time’ for those sometimes little and sometimes important items – at both home and work. Well, we have some time now, so make the most of it.
