Focusing on landlords, we're always looking to play an active role in the education process around this important product type and in providing our intermediary partners with the information and resources required to help them and their landlord clients on the green journey. Key to this approach is understanding individual landlord approaches and their awareness around new legislations.

On the topic of awareness, it was highly encouraging to see that over 9 in 10 landlords are aware of the new EPC ‘C’ legislation. This is according to the Q2 2022 BVA BDRC Landlord Panel research which also highlighted that this awareness peaked amongst landlords with 11-19 properties but was lowest amongst single property landlords.

From a purchase perspective, it’s clear that EPC ratings are having an impact for landlords looking to increase their portfolios. The BDRC research found that A-C rated properties were the most common target (63%), while 24% were looking to purchase D-E rated properties. Only 2% were reported to be specifically looking to purchase a property with an EPC rating of F or G.
